Need help catching up with your favorite team?

Posted by CooperVision on Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Football playoff season is in full gear and fans around the country are courageously rooting for their favorite team.   We want to make sure that everyone can see their teams clearly — near, far and everywhere in between!

With today’s smartphone and tablet technologies keeping up with scores and stats should be easy, right? Maybe not for those over 40 fans suffering from presbyopia, switching from small screens near and far can be a challenge.   CooperVision’s Biofinity Multifocal Contact Lenses can provide patients with outstanding vision, health and comfort all day.

Multifocal contact lenses focus light from both near, intermediate, and far distances to the back of the eye, creating the clearest possible image. This unique system uses two different, yet complementary, lenses that work together to provide clear vision near or far.

Ask your eye care practitioner if our Biofinity Multifocal lenses can help you keep up with your favorite team this season!  Click here to find an eye care practitioner near you.

Introducing New Biofinity Packaging

Posted by CooperVision on Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Earlier today, we debuted new packaging for the Biofinity and Biofinity Toric products. The new design showcases our new corporate identity and watermark logo, which launched in March:

The new packaging reflects CooperVision’s perspective that the world is a vibrant, dynamic place. It also provides a unique take on water and comfort – valuable qualities of CooperVision lenses that are key ingredients in our wearers’ daily lives.

There is no change to the contact lenses themselves, so practitioners and wearers alike can be assured that CooperVision contact lenses will continue to provide the same clear vision and great comfort that thousands of wearers have come to depend on.

“The new packaging highlights our commitment to providing practitioners with innovative contact lenses and tools that help enhance the patient’s wearing experience and their interaction with the practitioner’s office,” said Dennis Murphy, president, the Americas, CooperVision. “We are excited to see our new brand identity roll out across our product portfolio.”

CooperVision Course at Optometry's Meeting Addresses Needs of ODs Fitting Multifocal Contacts

Posted by CooperVision on Friday, September 2, 2011
To celebrate the launch of Biofinity Multifocal, the latest addition to the Biofinity family of contact lenses, we hosted two live multifocal fitting workshops at this year's Optometry's Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah. AOA News recently published an article detailing the workshops, including audience member feedback. Read an excerpt here:

As many Optometry’s Meeting® attendees discovered, seeing really is believing when it comes to fitting multifocal contact lenses. A CooperVision-sponsored course in the Discovery Theater this June in Salt Lake City demonstrated that fitting multifocal lenses is not difficult. Mark Andre, Don Siegel, O.D., and Harvard Sylvan, O.D., presented “Seeing is Believing: A Live Multifocal Workshop,” which included the fitting of presbyopic patients with little or no previous multifocal experience.

“I have to admit that although I have been in practice for many years I still have reservations about fitting patients with soft multifocal contacts,” said Joe Martin, O.D., a course attendee. “It just seems to take too much time and the visual outcomes are often disappointing. So the live fitting of patients in the Discovery Theater drew my interest as the description indicated that the session would demonstrate that fitting multifocals is not time consuming or complicated.”

Nazanin Galehdari, O.D., a local practitioner from Salt Lake City, performed the refractions and eye health evaluations on the patients who were fit at these sessions. Biofinity Multifocals were not fit on any of these patients prior to being fit in the Discovery Theater. The first patient was a 46-year-old woman who was a -3.75 myope with a +1.50 add and was wearing a competitor’s soft multifocal contact lens. The second patient was a 58-year-old woman who was a +1.00 hyperope with a +2.25 add and was wearing monovision-configured contact lenses.

“The responses from the patients were unsolicited, and yet each one enthusiastically stated that the comfort and vision were excellent,” said Dr. Martin. “They both left very satisfied with the lenses and had appointments made with Dr. Galehdari for their follow-up care. Both patients were fit in almost the same timeframe as a sphere patient.”

CooperVision Introduces Multifocal to Growing Biofinity® Brand

Posted by CooperVision on Thursday, June 16, 2011
CooperVision, Inc. today formally announced the U.S. launch of Biofinity® Multifocal at the AOA conference in Salt Lake City, UT. Biofinity Multifocal is the latest addition to the Biofinity family of monthly replacement contact lenses. The product combines the Biofinity Asphere and Toric lens material with proven Balanced Progressive™ Technology.

In addition to the new product, CooperVision also introduced a new streamlined fitting approach.  Working closely with eye care practitioners, CooperVision developed the new process to make it easier for eye care practitioners to fit their patients and offer lens wearers an ideal combination of ease, comfort and eye health.

“One of the most important considerations for us in developing Biofinity Multifocal was listening to eye care professionals,” said Richard Clompus, OD, VP, Global Professional Relations at CooperVision. “Collaborating with the practitioners who work directly with lens wearers every day and understanding that every eye is unique—that's how we're able to bring outstanding new products to market time and again.”

In clinical testing, Biofinity Multifocal lenses outperformed other brands in a range of measurements, including end-of-the-day comfort, vision quality, and intent to continue with a lens.

Patients rated Biofinity Multifocal lenses as superior for overall satisfaction compared to both ACUVUE® OASYS® for PRESBYOPIA and PureVision® Multi-Focal after two weeks of wear.

CooperVision further validated the new fitting protocol through clinical testing with eye care practitioners, including Mile Brujic, OD of Premier Vision Group in Bowling Green, Ohio.

“It is a remarkably comfortable lens and this is important for our contact lens-wearing presbyopes,” Brujic said. “The sophisticated multifocal lens design makes it a versatile, uniquely-designed lens for even your most demanding presbyopic patients.”

“I had much greater success with Balanced Progressive Technology than ever before when I followed the new fitting steps to the letter,” said Jason Lake, OD of Eyecare Specialties in Warrensburg, Missouri. “The patient satisfaction was the highest I have encountered in any brand of multifocal contact lens and the visits were held to a minimum because the results were very predictable.”

“We are proud to offer our eye care practitioner partners another great tool to help improve their patients’ everyday lives with an easy-to-fit multifocal lens with superior comfort,” said Dennis Murphy, President, the Americas, CooperVision.

Biofinity Multifocal is currently available in the U.S. and France in sphere powers of +6.00 D to -8.00 D and in four ADD powers (+1.00, +1.50, +2.00, +2.50).  A D and N lens are available for each ADD power.

The product will be available in Canada later this fiscal year. CooperVision anticipates a rollout to more countries and regions in 2012. The launch of Biofinity Multifocal follows a successful product line of Biofinity Asphere and Toric lenses worldwide. Biofinity is currently CooperVision's fastest growing brand.
